Soft Pretzel Recipe By Jannette Basham

Ok Ok... this is what I did:

I let my bread maker do the hard work for me. If your bread maker has a "dough" setting use that. Otherwise you have to use your hands :-(
4 tsp yeast
2 TBSP brown sugar
1 1/4 cup hot water

Mix above ingredients together and set aside

1/2 c. milk scolded
5 c. flour
1/2 c. sugar
1 1/2 tsp salt
2 TBSP vegetable oil

Add above ingredients to bread maker/bowl and then add the yeast mixture

Let rise until double in size

Get a pot and add:
4 cups water to boiling
turn head on medium low and add
1/2 c. baking soda (slowly because it will fuzz up fast)
stir often

Shape dough and place into hot soda water for about 30 seconds. (while making the other pretzel works good too, or you can make all your pretzels and dip them in one at a time)

Place on greased cookie sheets. Let rise about 30 min.

Preheat oven 425
8 min.

I did 450 and it made them a bit too dark for my liking so I tried 425 and they turned out great.

After baking spread melted butter over tops and LIGHTLY sprinkle salt

Dip in softened cream cheese (our favorite) ENJOY!
